Share your skills
Last evening a friend from church came over to watch me make strawberry jam. It was so much fun chatting with her and showing her the ropes of food preservation. It took only about 30 minutes, and it is a time that I will always remember. I encourage each of you to think about what skills and knowledge you have and make an effort to share that with someone. Like I've said before, I have been blessed with many people in my life who took the time to show me how to do things--everything from changing out a toilet to making strawberry jam (obviously not at the same time!) It has been a blessing in turn to share those skills with others. I have heard somewhere that learning a new skill should go in this order--learn, do, teach. I challenge each of you to think of something you know how to do and to share that skill with others. You don't have a willing audience? Contact your local community center, YMCA, library, senior citizens center, or assisted living. Many of those programs want and need volunteers to teach workshops and classes. Pay it forward!
