Tip of the day

Beans and Rice/Rice and Beans. These are potentially some of the most important staple items. They are cheap, good for you, and versatile. Stick with dried items to reduce your cost (a pound of dried beans makes a whole pot rather than a can of beans costing the same amount). Stick with brown rice rather than white rice for more nutrients. Double your recipes so that beans are ready in the freezer when you want to make hummus, dips, casseroles, or burritos.
