Fast Dash 40, A lot of fun

 

Runners and walkers of all ages walked the mile of I 40 in Knoxville that has been closed for what has seemed to motorists like an eternity.  Earlier in the afternoon we were afraid we would not be able to attend due to a fierce thunderstorm, but around 5pm the skies cleared.  We enjoyed a beautiful evening outdoors.   It was fun to see people we knew walking and running and having an all out good time.  I heard one mother talking with her son on the way out.  The boy asked, “Mom, can we do this again next year?”  She explained, “Well, this isn’t something they are going to do every year.”  He became very upset, and she reassured him, “If they ever close a part of an interstate like this again and hold another walk, we’ll do it then.”  If there ever is another walk like this one, we’ll be there too!
