Your children have probably noticed the fireflies flickering in the evenings and you may be trying to remember the story of "The Moon Maiden". OR you may be thinking of driving to Elkmont and seeing the synchronous fireflies with a few hundred other folks. Either way, you will love the story of "The Moon Maiden". It is a beautiful Japanese folk tale which tells "how the fireflies are shining love messages of the little Princess Moonbeam, flitting down to bring comfort to earth from her home in the silver moon."
