When making any purchase, ask yourself how many uses it has. Remember the stainless steel bar I told you about yesterday made for getting the garlic smell off of your hands? How many other uses does it have? Maybe a paperweight?
One example of a multi-purpose tool that I like is a toaster oven. A regular toaster makes toast. A toaster oven can be used for toast, cheese toast, baking pies, reheating leftovers, warming rolls, etc. In the summer months, I use ours as a way to reduce energy costs. The small oven does not heat the house up as much as the full sized oven. For the many extra uses that it has, the extra price is not so much of an issue. I have also found that they are more durable than toasters tend to be.
From clothes, to tools, to just about any item you might bring into your home, ask if it is has more than one use. You'll save a ton of money over the years, reduce your clutter, and won't have to hold as many garage sales.
