Tip of the day

Want to donate to your favorite charity but have limited funds?  Don’t get a big head.  I once read a story of a missionary in Africa who also happened to be a doctor.  He said that he was at first appalled when the group asked him to scrub the floors.  He thought, “I’m a doctor!  I could be doing so much to help so many, and they want me to scrub floors??”  As he scrubbed the floors he started to realize that he was doing what was needed at the time.  Service does not have time for vanity.  Visit your favorite charity with an open heart and mind, and give of your time and energy wherever they are needed.  You might be scrubbing floors or you might be working in front line service—either way your work will be needed and appreciated.  I’ve been working in not-for-profit agencies since I was 12 years old (I was a candy striper when I was young), and I know that any and all help is vital to keeping their doors open.
