- Go here for an article about keeping up appearances. Sharon links to a recent PBS program that I happened to have watched on television. It was quite interesting and thought provoking. I recently listened to the audio book of The Millionaire Next Door and am currently listening to The Millionaire Mind. Both have quite a bit of information gleaned from hundreds of interviews by millionaires on the subject of appearances and “stuff”. The authors note a strong correlation between living in upscale neighborhoods and NOT being wealthy. The need to keep up with the Joneses is too great.
