This time of the year is a good one to get your garden tools ready for the planting and growing season.
- Check your tools to make sure they are cleaned. If you don’t already have the habit of cleaning them before you put them away (and most of us don’t have that habit yet), make a commitment to doing so this year. (I’m horrible about doing this, btw!)
- Oil them if applicable.
- Sharpen any shears, shovels, axes, or any other tool that might need it.
- My grandfather would use red fingernail polish or orange spray paint, depending on the size of the tool, to mark the handles. This made it easier to find the tools when they were in the grass or on the ground.
