Tip of the day

Silence is one of the best negotiating strategies.  State what you want and be silent.  Be silent to the point where it is uncomfortable.  People tend to fill that uncomfortable silent space, and they will either give you information that will help you to know where they stand or they will give in to what you want.  Wait. Make sure that they have completed saying everything before you start to talk.

I’m a bit loquacious (or hadn’t you noticed already?).  This bargaining strategy is not an easy one for me, yet it is one that I have used with great success on everything from discounts at stores and yard sales to purchasing vehicles.
