Opt for locally grown foods whenever you can—at least in our area, you’ll find that local and organic often go hand in hand. Since the “organic” label is an expensive process for farmers to obtain, talk with him or her about his farming practices. Many are open about what methods they use.
When you are shopping at the grocery, opt for organics. It can be expensive to make the change to organics, so start by making one organic option each week. Our family does not use organics exclusively, but there are certain things that I do not buy unless they are local or organic (ground beef being one of them).
