Tip of the day

Once or twice a year, sit down with your family and review your major household expenses. Examples:

  • Is it time to update your homeowner’s insurance or car insurance?  Can you shop around for a better price or service?  Can you combine insurances to get a better deal?
  • Look at phone services.  Would you receive a better price if you bundled services with cable and internet?   For some people it is cheaper to do so than to eliminate cable.  What about your cell plan?  Do you need to move to a different type of service to better meet your needs?
  • Have you refinanced your mortgage?  Perhaps you could compare rates and closing costs to see if you’ll save money in the long haul.

Look at the major parts of your budget and see what needs attention.
