StoryCorps in East TN, Oct 4-Nov 15

East Tennesseans will have the opportunity to honor and celebrate each other’s lives through listening when StoryCorps® comes to the region this fall. WUOT is proud to host the StoryCorps MobileBooth, which will be in Knoxville on Historic Market Square Oct. 4-Nov. 15, 2010.

What is StoryCorps?
StoryCorps’ mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of their lives. Participants record a conversation with a loved one, receive a broadcast-quality CD, and may choose to give permission to have another copy put in the StoryCorps archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

NPR also broadcasts segments taken from these interviews on Morning Edition. While StoryCorps is in Knoxville, you’ll be able to hear locally produced segments on WUOT, and we’ll post links to the stories.
