Tip of the day—Ask about sales and discounts

Last night’s Ladies Night Out event at our church was such a fun get together!  Thank you to all of the readers out there who visited with us!

During the process of shopping, I was reminded about a great way to score a deal—ask.  Because I was announcing the door prizes, I asked vendors if they had any special deals that they wanted me to point out.  Because of that simple question, I learned about some bonus deals, coupons, and discounts that I would have not thought were doable.  Some were changing out packaging and were offering deals and bonus buys.  Others had incentives to buy more, giving price cuts when you bought a certain amount of products.  Others had freebies for a certain dollar spent.  Still others had seasonal sales and special pricing in catalogs.

It is easy to get wrapped up in the deals and discounts, so have a plan of what you want or need to buy before you start shopping.  This week I looked at my gift list—a list I keep of who I need to buy what for over the course of the year.  I start shopping for Christmas in January so that I can get the most bang for our buck.  By shopping a little here and there and looking for deals, I’m able to buy more with the same amount of money.  I knew whom I needed to buy for and had an idea of what things I wanted to pick up.  With all of the great vendors and deals, I was able to make a major dent in the gifts that I still needed to purchase.
