February Eat from the Pantry Challenge—First Giveaway

DSC_5136

Tea is one of my favorite drinks. Very few days go by when I don’t drink some sort of tea, hot or cold. I liked the idea of tea being my first giveaway as part of this challenge because I think it is such a good item to keep in your storage. It is one of the most inexpensive drinks that you can buy and a lot better for you than soda. I’ll often pack tea with me when I’m traveling—ginger tea for any nausea or colds, peppermint tea for any tummy troubles, chamomile for sleep, and Earl Grey for my morning pick-me-up. A small zip top bag with my tea assortment easily fits in my purse or suitcase, and I can’t tell you how often I was glad to have had it packed.

The goody bag of tea will include what you see in the photo—peach black tea, pumpkin spice, organic lemon ginger, organic Earl Grey, orange spice, and “Relaxed Mind” by Yogi. Many of the flavored teas—the peach, pumpkin and orange spice—are ones that I enjoy mixing with less expensive Lipton tea. I’ll use 2 of the family sized bags of Lipton and 2 of the Orange Spice by Stash, for instance, to make a pitcher of sweet tea with a little more pizzazz. I hope that the winner of the goody bag will enjoy them!

How to enter--

1. Each person entering the giveaway must leave a comment that includes your email address telling your favorite food to keep in storage. For example, beans are probably my favorite because they are so inexpensive and versatile.

Remember that part of the benefit the eating from your pantry challenge is better learning what foods are good to store for your family. This month, make notes of what foods helped to keep you satisfied at the dinner table. Also make notes of which ones you only ate to avoid waste--instant potatoes will now always go to the food pantry for donation because we know that we really don't like them. I have a half of a box that I'll be using this month, and after that point, we won't be buying them for us again!

2. Leave a separate comment for each additional entry. Remember, each entry must contain your email address so that I can contact you if you are a winner. Below are four more opportunities to enter--

  • “Like” Couponing in Critical Times on Facebook, or if you are already a “liker”, tell me that.
  • Become a follower, or if you already are, include that information in your comment.
  • Subscribe to my RSS feed, or if you already are a subscriber, include that info in your comment.
  • Promote the giveaway and challenge on your blog or Facebook page. Include the link if you do so.

3. The deadline for entry is this Saturday, February 5th at noon (EST). I’ll draw a winner and contact that person. The winner will have 4 days to respond with his/her mailing address, and if unable to contact that person then another winner will be chosen.

  5. My favorite storage item is pasta. Any type, size, shape or taste. Pasta is the most versatile item in my pantry as I can make it 100 ways or more or just have plain. It fills us up quickly too!

  7. My favorite item(s) to store are breakfast cereals (in the resealable bags), the 14 cent packages of ramen noodles, and any type of pasta. I also keep a special filing cabinet in my room to hide foods that I like...such as cereal bars and chocolate and jell-o. Drinks and drink mixes also store well :)
