WINNER CHOSEN--Second Giveaway of the February Eat from the Pantry Challenge—$5 GC to Kroger

WINNER CHOSEN

If you are participating in this challenge, chances are that you are starting to clean out your pantry, refrigerator, and freezer. Next month, you’ll need to start building up your stockpile again. Hopefully, you will then have a better idea of what foods you should store for your family and which ones shouldn’t make their way into your grocery cart. Unless I’m buying them for donation or for a specific recipe, I know that creamed corn, instant potatoes, and canned salmon should stay on the shelves for the other shoppers.

Five dollars might not sound like much, but you might be surprised at how far you can stretch it with coupons and sales at Kroger! If you don’t have a Kroger in your immediate area, remember that Kroger has fuel centers at many of their stores. You might be passing by one when traveling this year, and the gift card could save you a little money on your fill up.

How to enter--

1. Each person entering the giveaway must leave a comment that includes your email address giving an example of something you found when cleaning out the pantry, refrigerator or freezer. It can be something you forgot you had, something funny, or some treat that you were excited to see. For example, I recently found an unknown substance in a sour cream container that went straight into the trash. Evidently I had put a leftover into the container and forgot about it until I went into the fridge for some “sour cream”. Big surprise!

Cleaning out your refrigerator, freezer, and pantry will better allow you to reduce waste. Having foods better organized will allow you to see what you have and to plan your meals accordingly. To borrow a phrase from another blogger, you are building better food storage.

2. Leave a separate comment for each additional entry. Remember, each entry must contain your email address so that I can contact you if you are a winner. Below are four more opportunities to enter--

  • “Like” Couponing in Critical Times on Facebook, or if you are already a “liker”, tell me that.
  • Become a follower, or if you already are, include that information in your comment.
  • Subscribe to my RSS feed, or if you already are a subscriber, include that info in your comment.
  • Promote the giveaway and/or challenge on your blog or Facebook page. Include the link if you do so or are already doing so.

3. The deadline for entry is this Sunday, February 13th at 1:00pm (EST). I’ll draw a winner and contact that person. The winner will have 4 days to respond with his/her mailing address, and if unable to contact that person then another winner will be chosen.

  15. We found candy Tim had purchased last year when he was in Korea. Some of it was still good. Some of it was old and moldy. We ate a lot of it at first, but then we obviously forgot about it and it was pushed to the back! It was not expensive, but it was still wasted! I do hate wasting things!

  22. After moving back in with my mother, I found many expired items in the pantry, many of which were years old. The funniest one was a can of Eagle brand snack nuts that had to have been about 15-20 years old! In college, I once emptied out my fridge in order to move out (in August) and, way in the back, found some mashed potatoes leftover from Thanksgiving! Oddly, they did not look or smell that old or disgusting, but I was horified!
