WINNER CHOSEN--The Third Giveaway--Walgreens $5 Gift Card

71118_117497138610_413912_n Sarah M. was the winner of the $5 gift card to Walgreens. Congratulations, Sarah! Thanks to all who entered!

We are more than half way through the February Eat from the Pantry Challenge! Congratulations to all of you who have chosen to try out the challenge. Whether you have tried it for a few days or have stuck it out through the entire month, I commend you. Being purposeful and mindful with your food choices is an important step in balancing your budget and eating healthier.

Since one of my favorite stores to shop at for deals is Walgreens, I wanted to choose it for the final giveaway for this month. At Walgreens, $5 can bring in hundreds of dollars worth of products. Because of the many moneymaker deals there, you could use this $5 to start your journey into savings and roll your Register Rewards from week to week.

By using the deals at Walgreens to “purchase” free items such as toothpaste, shampoo, razors, and lotions, you can use the money you save for other parts of your family budget. Because I don’t have to purchase many toiletry items thanks to coupons and deals, we use that money from our budget to buy more organic and locally grown products. Whether you choose to use your savings in this way or to pay down debt or to splurge on a Starbucks treat, I hope that this $5 will help your family’s budget.

How to enter--

1. Each person entering the giveaway must leave a comment that includes your email address telling what you think of drugstore shopping. Do you like it? Love it? Hate it? Are you a Wagster or do you prefer CVS or Rite Aid? Walgreens isn’t sponsoring this giveaway, I am—so you can be truthful in your responses. (I decided to use some of the money from the $100 that I allotted for this month’s groceries to use for these giveaways.) Also, you don’t have to write anything long. I just thought it would be fun to read your answers.

2. Leave a separate comment for each additional entry. Remember, each entry must contain your email address so that I can contact you if you are a winner. Below are four more opportunities to enter--

  • “Like” Couponing in Critical Times on Facebook, or if you are already a “liker”, tell me that.
  • Become a follower, or if you already are, include that information in your comment.
  • Subscribe to my RSS feed, or if you already are a subscriber, include that info in your comment.
  • Promote the giveaway and/or challenge on your blog or Facebook page. Include the link if you do so or are already doing so.

3. The deadline for entry is this Tuesday, February 22nd at 7:00am (EST). I’ll draw a winner and contact that person. The winner will have 4 days to respond with his/her mailing address, and if unable to contact that person then another winner will be chosen.

  1. I love drugstore shopping. I have really been able to stock up on items such as shampoo, toothpaste, diapers, etc. by combining coupons, sales, and register rewards/extra care bucks. sarahsmyers(at)gmail(dot)com

  5. Hi Gabrielle,
My challenge has been successful as I haven't had to go food shopping in three weeks. I can't tell you the last time I've gone that long.. It's been interesting, rewarding and satisfying realizing that I can pull up my boot straps and succeed at saving money and clearing out the pantry. As far as Walgreens... I also love that store. It's my "go to" store when I need anything. Several years ago I used to work for Walgreens. It was an interesting job, one that I put on my resume and found particular interest in. I started in their 'beauty' department then was promoted into the office. The 'beauty' about working for a drugstore like Walgreens is that you understand what retail is like. How people shop, realizing special buys, discounts and bargains. I learned a lot at that job as well as reading your blog. I have "liked" you from the beginning when I started blogging.. ~Leslie

  6. You know I'm a big fan of Walgreen's and CVS. I now save about 80% shopping there because I'm picky about what I buy. I think I save more money at CVS but I'm able to pick more up for my Couponing for Charity at Walgreen's. I'd love to win the $5 to see how far I can make it go!

  9. Hi Gabe! I am a fan of drugstore deals, but tend to prefer CVS over Walgreens as there's less to think about (coupons per item etc.) The deals I like best at Walgreens are the ones that don't involve RRs. I am sure I could get some great deals with a $5 gift card, though!

  14. I do like drug store shopping, but it was better a few years ago. Walgreens is really annoying with how they just do not seem to be able to comprehend coupons!
