Tip of the day—Cast Iron Care

These were some great tips and instructions for taking care of your cast iron skillets and pots.  Cast iron skillets are one of my favorite gifts to give newlyweds because they are a gift that will last generations.  I have a small cast iron skillet that I treasure that was my great grandmothers—such a sweet heirloom to have.

What about you?  Do you use cast iron?  One of my favorite cast iron pieces is a shallow skillet that we use for pancakes.  The lip of the skillet is only about an inch tall, making it perfect for grilled cheese, pancakes, or tortillas.

BTW, the link I’ve included is from a really fantastic blog that focuses on gardening, sustainability, living simply, and environmental awareness.  I hope you’ll check them out!

  1. The only cast iron I have is my griddle which I use every now and then. My mother on the other hand, has a lot of cast iron frying pans. She would always leave them slightly greased to preserve the pans 'health' as she would say.. The word 'seasoned' always comes to mind as well. Have a wonderful day!
