Today I’ll turn you to a few of the most comprehensive posts that I’ve written on this subject:
Our family works to lower our usage of utilities each month. The best tool that we have used to help in this task is to create a spreadsheet in Excel. Hubby keeps track of how many units we’ve used in each category and how much the actual bill was in dollars and cents. He has graphed the data for the last 4 years. Sound dorky? Maybe so, but it helps us tremendously with budgeting. We know which months we’ll have the highest bills. We also know when we have spikes in certain categories what that data represents—a large spike in water bill a few years back was a result of nighttime potty training and need to wash more sheets, for example.
How about you? What are some of your best tips for reducing your utility bill?
