Tip of the day—Gottman Institute

I realized that I so frequently recommend the work of the Gottman Institute to others—married couples, engaged couples, those struggling in their marriage, parents—but I haven’t yet posted the information here on the blog.  I first learned about the work of John Gottman when I was a baby social worker.  His research is probably the most extensive ever conducted on marital relationships.  In therapy we talk about evidence based practice—those tools and techniques you use to help clients that have a significant base in science.  The information you see on the website is science based and offers practical advice on how to build relationship skills.  On the website you’ll find plenty of things you can purchase, but why I’m mentioning the site is because you’ll also find a lot of free information and resources.  His books are readily available at the library, and the Facebook page posts frequent tips and information.  I hope that this is of help to some of you!
