Tip of the day—Subscribing to Ambulance Services

If you or someone in your household has health issues, you might consider subscribing to your area’s ambulance services.  Not every area offers this, but those that do usually charge a yearly fee that is significantly less expensive than what one trip in an ambulance would cost.  See below for some information from a Knoxville provider:

Rural/Metro offers an EmergiCare subscription program in Knox, Blount and Loudon counties.  This program is designed to offset costs associated with ambulance services.

EmergiCare is not insurance. Participants pay an annual fee, and EmergiCare pays any balances not covered by their primary insurance and deemed medically necessary. This saves on the out-of-pocket expenses that may be incurred in the case of a medical emergency or other event that may require ambulance services.

If you are outside of the Knoxville area, I encourage you to phone your city or county government to inquire if they know about a similar program.  For many older adults I know, this service has saved them a lot of money.

Have a wonderful day!
